Before reviewing the directions below, we highly recommend first referring to the Grade Categories User Guide article to correctly set up your grade categories: Grade Categories
- Log into your account.
- Select Go to Course.
- Click Gradebook in the menu on the left side (if you do not see this menu, click the Menu icon at the top of the page).
- Select Setup from the top row of tabs.
- Click Edit associated with the course title (top-right corner of the Gradebook; it is the first "Edit" under the Actions Column) and select Edit Settings.
- Select the drop-down bar next to the Aggregation category and then select Natural.
- Under Category total, click Show more, then scroll down to Grade display type and set that to Percentage (real).
- Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Continue.
- Now you will see text boxes in the Weight column of the gradebook. By default, categories are evenly weighted. To manually adjust the weights, check the box for the category and assign the preferred weight percentage. Combined category weights must equal 100%.
When you click Save changes any unassigned weight will be evenly distributed to all weight boxes that you did not manually adjust.
Here is what the Gradebook should look like after Step 9 is complete. Weighted percentages will be applied to the overall grade
