Grade columns auto-populate the Gradebook as assignments are created, and populate left to right. You can reorganize the grade columns to suit your preference.  See below for an example where an instructor wants to move Quiz Ch 1 to the right of HW Ch 1 (red), and the Quiz Ch 2 to the right of HW Ch 2 (blue) in the Gradebook.

Reorder Grade Columns

1. From within the Course, navigate to the Gradebook. Click on the Setup tab.
   
2. Click on the vertical up/down arrow icon for the column to be moved.
   (Example: Quiz Ch 1)
   
3. Click on the white space for the desired column location. (Example: after HW Ch 1)
   The columns will now be in the preferred order.
   
4. Save Changes if finished OR repeat Steps 2 & 3 to move additional columns. (Example: Quiz Ch 2)
   Save Changes when all columns are in the preferred order.
   
   
5. Return to the View tab of the Gradebook / Grader report (default). Columns appear in the preferred order.
