We highly recommend a Practice Exam to ensure everything works correctly for you and your students.

Questions cannot be added or removed from assignments that have started or completed attempts.

Instructors may want to monitor students during exams. A way to accomplish this on our platform is to use Zoom with the LockDown Browser.

This guide uses the following link as an example, which becomes important when you need to add a part of it to the Allow access to specific external web domains option.

Example Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/12345678910?pwd=wph8eq4blFM98kDLf6C2dkamPpjji7Aa

Since external resources are not available while using the LockDown Browser, you must take additional steps to allow students to use Zoom while attempting an assignment.

  1. In Advanced Settings for the LockDown Browser settings for an assignment, enable the Allow access to specific external web domains option.
  2. In the text box that appears, add the following. This is the part of the link between the first set and second set of slashes.
Yours will likely be slightly different. This one uses our example from the top.

    us02web.zoom.us

If you have other allowed domains, separate them with a comma.

    us02web.zoom.us,calculator.net,www.wikipedia.org

  3. Click Save + Close in the LockDown Browser Settings.
  4. Edit the questions for the assignment.
  5. Create a custom question with the invite link or Meeting ID for the scheduled Zoom meeting.
    1. Select My Custom Questions from the Question Bank drop-down to the left.
    2. Click Go to your course question bank.
    3. Click the Create a new question button.
If there's a message saying you do not have the permissions to add custom questions, then click the button below.

    4. Select Description (see image below). The option should be located at the bottom of the list.

    5. Under General, enter a Question name (how it will list in the My Custom Questions question bank) and a Question Display Name (how it will look to students if settings allow students to see the Question Name).Link Icon in Toolbar
    6. In the Question text toolbar, click the button with the Link icon.
    7. Link Icon in ToolbarIn the Create link pop-up window, enter your URL and activate Open in new window by checking the box.
    8. Enter a URL and turn on Open in new windowClick Create link. Your link will be added to the question.
You may want to add additional instruction like shown in the example below.URL InputMultiple links can be provided if you have different scheduled meetings/assignments for other classes.

    9. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.
  6. Build the Autod assignment OR if it is an existing assignment navigate back to the assignment, click Edit and select Edit questions.
  7. Add the new custom question as the first question of your assignment. You may want to modify the Zoom question's point value (set to 0 points in example below).
  8. Add additional questions as needed.

IMPORTANT: The Zoom Link question cannot be locked in place. If you set the questions to Shuffle, the Zoom link will likely appear in a different position. Before the exam, instruct students to look for the question with an " i " (instead of a number) and click it to easily locate the Zoom Link question on their assignment.

  9. Click Save Changes or Save & Exit.

Your students may now launch Zoom from within the LockDown Browser (via the Description Question) once the assignment has been launched.

Make sure to start the scheduled meeting from your device, with appropriate Zoom settings for your assignment, before the assignment begins.

Note that once the student submits the assignment, the LockDown Browser will close and end their Zoom session.
